Josh Day Eagle Scout Project
Family, Friends and Community Partners,
Hi my name is Joshua Day. I am proud to be an active member of the Boys Scouts of America (BSA) Troop 281 in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have engaged in BSA activities for many years and I am currently working toward my Eagle Scout Rank. As an Eagle Scout, one of the steps that I must take is to organize a project that will benefit the community and provide me an opportunity to lead my fellow Scouts in the planning and implementation of the approved undertaking.
The Eagle Scout Project I have chosen is in support of breast cancer survivors. My family has been directly affected by Breast Cancer and we know firsthand the difficulties of a cancer battle. Several of our close family friends have been diagnosed and are currently fighting cancer. Recently I supported a fellow scout who made a memorial bench and mosaic and my intention is to add on to the work he completed. For my project, I will be installing two benches, flower boxes and a Peace Pole at A. J. Jolly Park in Alexander, KY. for The Kentucky Thorough-Breast Dragon Boat team (KTB). Dragon Boat Racing provides exercise and camaraderie for people who are or have battled cancer and their supporters. In addition to competing internationally, KTB raises awareness and funds to support cancer organizations and patients in our area. In order to have a lasting effect and help raise awareness for the organization, this project will stand in remembrance to those we’ve lost to cancer.
As part of the project management, it is my responsibility to raise funds through community support and donations. I am reaching out to you in hopes that you might be interested in partnering with Troop 281 in support of my Eagle Scout Project. I would be most appreciative if you could make a donation of needed financial support for this important project. My estimated budget is $1,600 however any additional funds will be donated directly to KTB and their work with local breast cancer partners.
